The Group was registered on 29th July 1980, although the sections actually started to meet in April that year. It's first Group Scout Leader was Bob Hampson, assisted by Margaret Hampson as Cub Scout Leader and Derek Fall as Scout Leader.
The first annual camp was August 1980 (joint camp with 3rd Sedgley) at Cader Idris, Wales. The camp started off dry on Saturday and Sunday, but it rained Monday to Thursday causing the river next to the site to rise, ending the camp prematurely. Some leaders and lads were left behind to break the camp. When the vehicles arrived to collect the group they found that two days of sunshine had allowed the tents to dry out and all was well!
Excellent father and son camps were help annually, and by 84/85 7 camps had been held totalling 300 Camp nights, and in 1986 the Chief Scout visited our site. Cub Pack camps were held annually, mostly at Kibblestone. The Scout group attended the Annual Methodist/Boys Brigade Camps held in Hertfordshire. In Summer 1990 the Scout troop attended the International Camp at Chatsworth Park , Derbyshire (very hot!)
In 1985 the Beaver Colony started, follow in the same year by the Venture Unit which came under district control in 1990.
In 1987 Tim Higgs became our first Queen's Scout.
In 1999, the group's headquarters was shown as the Methodist Church, Common Road in Wombourne. The group moved from Wombourne Methodist Church to Mill Lane Scouting Centre in 2006.
Paul Cartwright took over as Scout Leader in 1996, followed by Stuart Playford in 2003 until the current Scout Leader Henry Cleaver took over at the start of 2008.
In 2010 the group celebrated it's 30th Anniversary with a Family Camp at Beaudesert Scout Campsite.
