Scouts Patrol Camp

13 October 2013

This weekend, Scouts camped at Kibblestone International Scout Camp for the annual troop Patrol Camp Competition. The four patrols took part in activities throughout the weekend, including climbing on Saturday morning and the assault course on Saturday afternoon.

In the lead up to the weekend, Scouts devised their own menus and equipment lists. Patrol Leaders were taken shopping by leaders for their food for the weekend, and all cooking was done very ably by the Scouts. The leaders even got to try a bit for themselves which was very pleasing!

The weather on the Friday night was very windy which made setting up camp very hard, but we managed to get everything set up in time to have some free time before bed.

On the Saturday Scouts were up early to get fires lit and cook breakfast. Both groups managed to get their fires going eventually, despite the wind and occasional rain. A good breakfast was had by all.

After breakfast, the troop went climbing which was very enjoyable. We then had lunch before heading off to the assault course. All Scouts did a timed lap of the course, the winning time being Stephen in 1 minute 22 seconds.

On the Sunday, we woke up to miserable skies and rain. This would make taking the tents down very difficult, as the rain soaked tents were hard to fold and fit in their bags.
